Spotting the clue and reacting before everyone else trains how quickly the brain processes visual information.

Keeping your eyes on the card without losing track of the table activates sustained and selective attention.

Holding the clues from the mixing table in mind while you read the card exercises short-term operative memory.

Telling apart shades and color combinations sharpens the ability to discriminate between very similar visual stimuli.
